York Region Utility Services Ltd (YRUS), is looking for a full-time Power Line Journeyperson (PLT) to join our growing team. YRUS provides electrical services including: new connections, disconnect/reconnects, transformer terminations, meter base repairs, meter exchange and troubleshooting, OEB inspections of overhead and Underground distribution system assets, and special projects for some of Central Ontario’s largest Utilities.
The position is based in Uxbridge and normal working hours are Mon- Fri 7:00am- 4:00pm. Based on workload, there may be opportunity for overtime and weekend work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Disconnect and reconnect underground and overhead services New connections- energizing new services
- OEB inspections of underground and overhead distribution assets
- Residential meter base repairs and replacements
- Transformer terminations
- Ability to Read and interpret prints, maps, drawings etc
- Safely operate heavy duty utility equipment including, bucket trucks, and related equipment as required
- Ensure safe work procedures are followed at all times, maintaining personal safety and safety of crew at all times.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Power Line Journeyperson (PLT) Certificate
- First Aid & CPR certificates and knowledge of ESA, EUSR and the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- A valid Class ‘DZ’ or “A restricted” Ontario Driver’s License, driver’s insurance, and an excellent driving record (Drivers Abstract required prior to hiring)
- Criminal Record Check required prior to hiring due to nature of this position
- Assist in the setup of work zones, including traffic control and safety barriers as needed
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills with coworkers, clients, and members of the public
- Excellent customer service skills with a professional approach
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team
- Demonstrated time management skills
- Knowledge of and experience with computer software such as Microsoft Office
- Comfortable working outdoors, at heights, and in a team driven environment

Rate of pay range $40-$60/hr to be determined based upon experience and qualifications
