About Kentville Toyota
Kentville Toyota is looking for a General Manager to lead the full dealership operation in Kentville, Nova Scotia.
This is a key leadership role within a well-established Toyota dealership and part of Pye Auto, a growing Atlantic Canadian automotive group. While the dealership has the backing of a larger group, this is not a corporate caretaker role. We are looking for a real operator: someone who can lead people, improve performance, make sound commercial decisions, and take ownership of the business.
Our operating values are captured in S.I.G.H.T.:
Safety. Integrity. Growth. Hospitality. Teamwork.
Those values are not window dressing. They shape how we expect our stores to be led, how customers should be treated, how employees should be developed, and how decisions should be made when the answer is not obvious.
The Opportunity
The General Manager will have responsibility for the full rooftop operation, including:
- New Vehicle Sales
- Used Vehicle Sales
- Finance & Insurance
- Service
- Parts
- Detail / Reconditioning
- Administration / Accounting
- Customer Experience
- People leadership
The dealership needs a leader who can meet the moment. The GM must run the broader business with discipline across profitability, customer satisfaction, OEM standards, employee engagement, compliance, and long-term growth.
This role is well suited to someone who understands that a dealership is not one department. Sales, service, parts, F&I, accounting, inventory, process, culture, and customer experience all touch each other. The right GM will know how to pull those levers without creating unnecessary chaos.
What You’ll Be Accountable For
As General Manager, you will be expected to lead the dealership as a true business unit operator. Key accountabilities include:
Business Performance
- Own dealership performance across sales, fixed operations, F&I, customer experience, profitability, and operational execution.
- Increase used vehicle volume through disciplined acquisition, pricing, merchandising, reconditioning, inventory turn, sales process, and accountability.
- Build practical, measurable operating rhythms that help managers understand what is expected and where performance stands.
- Review financial and operational results regularly and take action before small issues become structural problems.
- Balance gross, volume, customer experience, inventory health, and long-term reputation.
People & Culture
- Stabilize and strengthen the dealership culture through clear expectations, consistent leadership, and visible accountability.
- Build an organizational structure that supports performance, development, and succession.
- Coach department managers while holding them accountable for results.
- Recruit, retain, and develop strong people across the store.
- Create an environment where employees understand the standards, feel respected, and know what winning looks like.
Customer Experience
- Ensure customers experience the dealership’s values in practical ways: professionalism, transparency, responsiveness, and follow-through.
- Maintain strong Toyota brand standards and customer satisfaction performance.
- Address customer issues quickly, fairly, and with good judgment.
- Reinforce a hospitality mindset across sales, service, parts, and administration.
Operational Leadership
- Lead the daily, weekly, and monthly cadence of the dealership.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, OEM expectations, employment standards, financial controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Team and broader group leadership.
- Make strong local decisions while staying aligned with group-wide standards where appropriate.
Autonomy With Alignment
We believe General Managers need to be real operators. That means this role comes with significant autonomy and authority over local execution, people leadership, customer experience, performance management, and day-to-day business decisions.
That said, Kentville Toyota is part of a larger group. Some decisions have inter-company dependencies and require alignment with group standards, shared infrastructure, or broader strategic direction. For example, a dealership GM would not independently make a wholesale change to group-wide operating software.
The right leader will understand the distinction between healthy autonomy and unnecessary fragmentation. They will not confuse alignment with bureaucracy. They will know when to act independently, and when to collaborate.
Why This Role Matters
Kentville Toyota is an important dealership in the Annapolis Valley. The store has strong potential, a respected brand, and the opportunity for the right General Manager to make a meaningful impact.
The next GM will not be inheriting a sleepy maintenance assignment. This is a leadership opportunity for someone who wants to build momentum, strengthen the team, improve structure, and grow the business the right way.
Compensation & Benefits
This role offers:
- $135,000 base salary
- Industry-leading performance incentives
- Company vehicle/demo
- Comprehensive health and dental benefits
- Retirement savings support
- Relocation support where applicable
- Executive-level leadership opportunity within a growing Atlantic Canadian dealership group
- Strong Toyota brand environment
- Meaningful autonomy with support from the Executive Team
