Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Automotive Welder to join our friendly and professional auto body shop team in Truro.
The successful candidate will be responsible for welding, repairing and replacing damaged vehicle frames, body panels and other metal components. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, pays close attention to detail and can complete strong, clean and accurate repairs.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding repairs on vehicle frames, body panels and other metal components
- Measure, align and fit replacement parts to the existing vehicle structure
- Safely cut and remove damaged or corroded sections of frames and panels
- Repair cracks, holes and other damaged metal areas
- Shape and form metal parts using appropriate hand and shop tools
- Complete rust and corrosion repairs on vehicle frames and body components
- Fabricate and install metal patches, brackets and reinforcements as required
- Grind, clean and prepare metal surfaces before and after welding
- Inspect completed repairs to ensure proper fit, strength and quality
- Safely operate welding equipment, grinders, cutting tools and other shop equipment
- Follow workplace safety procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Work closely with auto body technicians and other members of the shop team
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of welding experience is preferred
- Experience with automotive, structural or metal fabrication work is considered an asset
- Experience working with vehicle frames and body panels is strongly preferred
- Ability to measure, cut, fit, shape and weld metal accurately
- Ability to produce clean, strong and consistent welds
- Experience using welding equipment, grinders, cutting tools and other metalworking equipment
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Valid driver’s licence and clean driver’s abstract
- Ability to drive both automatic and manual-transmission vehicles
Pay: $26.00 per hour
