Industrial Millwright Position Overview
Peterson Machine & Supply Inc. is seeking an experienced Industrial Millwright to join our team. This position combines precision mechanical repair, equipment installation, and industrial maintenance, supporting customers throughout Northwestern Ontario in the mining, forestry, pulp and paper, and industrial sectors.
From time to time, this position will also support field service work, including equipment repairs, shutdowns, and on-site installations. The ideal candidate takes pride in producing high-quality work, solving mechanical problems, and contributing to a team that delivers exceptional service.
Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and rebuild industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Perform precision alignments, bearing installations, and equipment overhauls.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
- Install, service, and repair pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, crushers, hydraulic systems, fans, compressors, and other industrial equipment.
- Work closely with machinists, welders, fabricators, and other trades to complete repairs and projects.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, quality control, and housekeeping.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and develop practical repair solutions.
- Assist with scheduled shutdowns, emergency breakdowns, equipment installations, and preventative maintenance.
- Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, rigging equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
- Complete job documentation and maintain a safe work environment in accordance with company and customer requirements.
- Mentor apprentices and support the development of junior team members.
Qualifications
- Red Seal Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certificate of Qualification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
- Strong knowledge of industrial machinery, rotating equipment, and mechanical systems.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Experience in mining, forestry, pulp and paper, or heavy industry is considered an asset.
- CWB welding certification, or willingness to obtain certification, is considered an asset.
- Underground Common Core is considered an asset.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for customer field work and shutdowns.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
