Job Title: CNC Supervisor (Afternoon Shift) 4:00 pm to 12:20 am
Position Summary - Commdoor Aluminum is a leading Canadian manufacturer of architectural aluminum products, including curtain walls, windows, doors, and framing systems for commercial and industrial construction projects. The company has served the glazing and building industry since 1989.
Key Responsibilities:
· Supervise and coordinate daily CNC production activities on the afternoon shift to ensure operational efficiency and on-time completion of production schedules.
· Operate CNC machinery and perform CNC programming, setup, and troubleshooting as required.
· Provide hands-on leadership and technical support to CNC operators and production staff.
· Monitor workflow, machine performance, and production output to meet quality, productivity, and delivery objectives.
· Train, coach, and guide team members on machine operation, programming, quality standards, and best manufacturing practices.
· Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
· Identify and resolve production issues, machine-related concerns, and quality deviations in a timely manner.
· Conduct quality inspections and verify that products meet engineering specifications and customer requirements.
· Coordinate shift priorities, labor allocation, and machine utilization to maximize efficiency.
· Maintain accurate production records and communicate shift activities, production results, downtime, and operational updates to management.
· Promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and workplace safety.
· Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on accountability and performance.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Post-secondary education in Machining, Manufacturing Technology, CNC Programming, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field is considered an asset.
· CNC machining certifications or trade qualifications are preferred.
Preferred:
- Certification as a CNC Machinist, General Machinist, or equivalent skilled trades certification.
- Training in CAD/CAM software and CNC programming.
- Health and Safety training (e.g., WHMIS, Lockout/Tagout, Joint Health & Safety Committee training) is an asset.
- Leadership, supervisory, or manufacturing management training is beneficial.
Experience Requirements:
· Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience, including machine setup, operation, and programming.
· Previous supervisory, lead hand, or team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
· Strong knowledge of CNC programming, tooling, machine setup, and troubleshooting.
· Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
· Working knowledge of quality control procedures and manufacturing best practices.
Working Conditions
· Afternoon shift manufacturing environment, ability to lift 50 pounds.
· Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and operation of CNC machinery.
· Hands-on participation in production activities is required.
Pay Rate: $32 to $35
