Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and energetic Home Care Worker to join a team of caregivers supporting a friendly adult male with intellectual disabilities who lives with support in his own apartment in the east end of St. John's.
This position is ideal for someone seeking full-time or part-time employment with flexible scheduling who enjoys helping others, spending time outdoors, and making a meaningful difference in someone's daily life.
Responsibilities
- Assist with activities of daily living
- Support personal care and hygiene needs
- Prepare meals and snacks
- Accompany and support community outings and recreational activities
- Perform light housekeeping duties
- Provide companionship and social interaction
- Administer prescribed oral medications as required
- Promote independence, well-being, and community participation
Qualifications
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities required
- Experience as a Personal Care Attendant, Home Support Worker, or caregiver considered an asset
- Fluent spoken and written English required
- Valid driver's license required
- Access to a reliable vehicle preferred
- First Aid certification considered an asset
- Willingness to administer medications
- Clear Record of Conduct required (or willingness to obtain one)
- Must currently reside in Newfoundland and Labrador and be legally entitled to work in Canada
Compensation
- Current rate: $17.05/hour plus 4% vacation pay
- Wage increases to $19.05/hour plus 4% vacation pay anticipated in early July
