JOB POSTING – Casual On-Call Education Assistant
Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Education Assistant is to provide support for students with special needs under the supervision of a classroom teacher. This position is ideal for individuals who are flexible and available to work on short notice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional support to individual students or small groups.

Assist students with personal, behavioral, and communication needs.

Supervise and/or assist with personal care, hygiene, and toileting as required.

Administer medical needs as instructed.

Prepare and modify instructional materials as directed by the teacher.

Collaborate with the school-based team in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

Accompany students on field trips and life skills programs.

Perform other duties as assigned, including noon-hour supervision.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent.

Minimum 3 years’ experience working with children.

Education Assistant 1 or 2 qualifications (preference for EA2).

Training in Basic First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain.

Courses in childhood education and special needs education.

Computer literacy (minimum 30 wpm).

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.

Physically able to carry out duties.Strong verbal and written English skills.

Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
