Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Local Owner Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods and materials within the local area while ensuring timely and safe delivery. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to operate various types of vehicles and equipment.
Duties
- Safely operate a commercial vehicle to transport freight and materials to designated locations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling and securing of items during transit.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues that arise.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving in a safe manner.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL); must have a clean driving record.
- Experience in commercial driving or freight transportation is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to lift heavy loads (up to 50 pounds) as required during loading/unloading processes.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to customer service.
- Must pass background checks and drug screenings as part of the hiring process.
- CN/CP tickets are a must-have
- Knowledge of the City of Winnipeg an asset.
- Must also be able to do short haul when needed
- Super B experience an asset.
