Are you the person people call when they need advice on building materials or their next project? We’re looking for a Lumber Sales Lead who knows their way around building materials, enjoys helping customers, and can support a team. Whether your experience comes from construction, farming, hardware, lumber, or hands‑on project work, you take pride in solving problems and sharing your knowledge with others.
As a Sales Lead, you’ll build strong relationships with contractors and customers, support and train team members, help grow sales and take pride in keeping the department running smoothly. Leadership experience is an asset, but we’re most interested in someone with strong product knowledge, great people skills, initiative, and a desire to make a difference.
What you’ll do: You will be responsible for delivering legendary service to make all guests of our Co-op feel “at home here” through:
- Leading the day‑to‑day supervision of the Lumber department, ensuring merchandise and the yard are stocked, organized, displayed, and reconciled to standard
- Providing knowledgeable support to customers on building materials, hardware, paint, and project needs
- Developing and delivering user‑friendly training content for team members in Lumber, Paint, Hardware, and project estimation
- Supporting a positive team environment through coaching, training, and hands‑on leadership
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with contractors and customers through B2B sales, call‑outs, and project estimations
- Assisting with budgets, pricing, discounts, and margins
- Staying current on lumber products, building materials, and industry trends
- Collaborating with the Hardware Supervisor, Sales Leads, and management to support overall Agro operations
Who you are: You are interested in a career in sales & customer service and:
- You have strong knowledge of building materials, construction basics, or hands‑on project experience
- You enjoy helping customers and solving problems
- You take initiative and pride in your work
- You have a High School diploma
- You hold a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- You can maintain and grow an extensive customer contact program
- Project estimating experience or education is an asset
- Training in Agro/Hardware/Lumber sales is considered an asset
- 1+ years of supervisory experience is preferred
- You have excellent communication and customer service skills
- You believe in building relationships, collaborating with others, and valuing diverse perspectives
You are physically able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and kneel
