Job Summary
Trans-Ontario Express is looking for a motivated and experienced Domestic Logistics Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting our logistics operations, specifically in dispatching and coordinating shipments across Canada. This role requires strong organizational skills, an in-depth understanding of Canadian transportation routes (with an emphasis on Western British Columbia), and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Logistics Coordination: Assist with managing and overseeing domestic logistics operations, ensuring the transportation and scheduling of shipments across Canada are carried out smoothly.
- Dispatching to Western BC: Coordinate and dispatch trucks to Western British Columbia, ensuring all routes, schedules, and delivery times are met efficiently.
- Driver Communication: Maintain clear communication with drivers, updating them on any changes to schedules, routes, or delivery instructions.
- Shipment Tracking: Track shipments to ensure timely deliveries and update internal systems with status reports on the movement of goods.
- Problem-Solving: Address any logistical issues or delays promptly, working with drivers and customers to find solutions.
- Documentation & Reporting: Complete and maintain accurate shipping documentation, including bills of lading and delivery receipts.
- Customer Service: Support customers by answering inquiries and ensuring their logistical needs are met with professionalism and efficiency.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the logistics team to ensure seamless operations and positive working relationships.
Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics and trucking, with a specific focus on dispatching and domestic freight operations, particularly to Western British Columbia.
- Strong understanding of transportation routes across Canada and experience dispatching trucks to Western BC is required.
- Experience with logistics software and transportation management systems is highly desirable.
- Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and team members, both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to address and resolve logistical challenges efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Assist with tracing and tracking orders.
