The Critical Care Unit is an intensivist-lead closed model with a dedicated Respiratory Therapy Team. Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Critical Care Unit, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing evidenced based, comprehensive, safe, effective and ethical nursing care working to the full scope of practice for the Registered Practical Nurse.
The successful applicant must meet the following criteria:
Mandatory Qualifications
- Current minimum of two (2) years acute care nursing experience
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required
- Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Preferred Competencies
- Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation Certificate preferred or willing to obtained within 6 months of employment
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred or willing to obtained within 6 months of employment
- High Acuity Nursing Certificate, or comparable certificate preferred or willing to obtained within 6 months of employment
- Able to perform venipuncture, 12/15 Lead ECG (or obtain within orientation to unit
- Meditech experience an asset
- Member of RPNO an asset

- Excellent patient assessment skills, successful completion of the Patient Assessment course an asset
