Lockdoor Canada Ltd is an architectural door and hardware distributor based in Waterloo, Ontario. We serve general contractors, property managers and companies throughout central western Ontario. Our product line includes wood, hollow metal and aluminum doors with mechanical and electronic locks, automatic door operators, exit devices, closers and security hardware. Our custom fabrication shop is clean and air conditioned with LED lighting.
We require an experienced metal worker for our hollow metal door shop to:, prep doors for lite kits, louvres, locks and exit devices using templates, shop drawings and instructions; to weld in mounting tabs for hardware and anchors; grind and finish frame welds and to set glass bead and glaze metal windows. This is a custom shop, not an assembly line and craftmanship matters.
Responsibilities
- Prep doors for litres, louvres and hardware according to technical specifications and templates.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, machines and equipment safely and effectively
- Prep door frames for anchors, electric strikes, power transfers and deadbolts.
- Install ite kits and glaze with tempered, thermal and fire rated glass.
- Hand tack weld anchors, hardware tabs, channels and door edge seams.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols
- Receive and stock doors, frames and hardware; load finished goods for pick up and delivery.
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining inventory levels
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a clean, safe and efficient shop.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in manufacturing, fabricating and assembly
- Completely proficient with air/hand tools, band saws, jig saws and chop saws
- Accurately layout and cut openings for door lites and louvres
- Work with both imperial and metric measurements .
- Able to follow shop drawings, templates and instructions
- Basic mig welding skill for light gauge steel, tack and flat welding
- Fit and able to handle 100 lb steel doors
- Load and unload trucks and place doors and frames in racks
- Keep a clean and tidy work space
- Candidates must be safety-conscious, reliable, and eager to contribute to a team focused on quality and efficiency
