Position Summary
James Evans & Associates (JEA) Ltd and our team of business and technology leaders have been providing leading solutions to the retirement and pension plan industry for over 40 years. We are well known for our exceptional products as well as our development, implementation, and support services. Our deep-rooted history in pension administration has taught us that no two clients are alike, and we’ve used that knowledge to design award-winning solutions that may be configured to each client’s unique requirements.
We’re looking for an Enterprise Solution Architect to provide hands-on architectural leadership across the PENFAX product suite, our cloud delivery, and integrated third-party components (including Microsoft Dynamics 365, Hyland OnBase, and embedded analytics such as Power BI Embedded).
You’ll act as a design authority, partnering with engineering, product, delivery, and client stakeholders to ensure solution designs are robust, secure, supportable, and aligned to JEA’s reference architecture.
What you'll do:
- Own end-to-end solution architecture for implementations and upgrades—covering application components, environments, integrations, and data flows.
- Lead integration architecture with client ecosystems and third parties (e.g., HR/payroll interfaces, landing areas, interface tables/files, operational data movement).
- Create and maintain architecture deliverables teams rely on: integration specifications, interface diagrams, inventories, and end-to-end data flow definitions (including error handling considerations).
- Drive architectural alignment across stakeholders (engineering, delivery, vendors, client teams) and help teams navigate changing assumptions or ambiguous integration requirements.
- Evaluate and adopt “expanded solutions” where JEA must choose platforms (e.g., analytics and embedding approaches), producing clear technical guidance.
- Support pursuits by contributing reusable architecture narratives and diagrams for proposals and RFP/RFI responses.
- Other duties within the context of the role
Requirements:
- Degree or diploma in an IT discipline, mathematical or related field, preferred.
- Proven experience as a solution/enterprise architect delivering complex, integrated enterprise systems across multiple environments and stakeholder groups.
- Strong capability in integration architecture: interface contracts, data landing patterns, operational ownership boundaries, and client-facing troubleshooting/clarification.
- Strong written and verbal communication—able to produce crisp architecture guidance that unblocks delivery teams.
- Able to reason about and explain cloud solution architecture to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice to have:
- Experience in rules-driven / high-compliance domains (e.g., pensions/benefits administration).
- Familiarity with the Microsoft ecosystem and embedded analytics/CRM patterns (e.g., Dynamics/Power BI).
- Comfort partnering with business development on technical architecture content for bids and proposals.
Other:
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance as a condition of employment.
- Must be willing to work outside normal work schedule to achieve deadlines.
Perks:
- JEA has an office in Victoria, BC, as well as remote workers across Canada. We encourage applicants from anywhere in Canada to apply.
- Our Victoria office is near the Selkirk Trestle, close to the city centre with great dining-out options and easy access to the Galloping Goose Trail.

- Friendly, easy-to-get-along-with team where open dialog and knowledge-sharing is encouraged and promoted.
