POSITION: PERMANENT
LOCATION: Cranbrook
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours/week
WAGE RATE: $38.02 as per CUPE 4165 Collective Agreement
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
1. British Columbia Journeyperson Mechanic certification (Red Seal)
2. Class 2 Driver’s license with air endorsement or willing to obtain.
3. Minimum four years of experience in the mechanical trade or similar supervisory position.
4. Commercial Transport Mechanic Certification or willing to obtain.
5. Commercial Vehicle Inspection License or willing to obtain.
6. Some experience in welding and sheet metal fabrication would be an asset.
7. Computer skills would be an asset.

3. Understand, keep current and apply guidelines, regulations, codes, and acts from various Ministries and/or enforcing agencies pertaining to the position.

6. Operate, maintain, and repair various specialized tools and equipment.

8. Read and understand specialized and technical material related to the position.

11. Perform the physical requirements of the job.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain district facilities.
2. Perform functions such as:
- Purchase supplies, parts, and equipment.
- Prepare budgets and inventory management.
- Supervise staff to assist with assigned tasks.
3. Ensure employee compliance to all guidelines, codes, regulations and acts relating to the position.
4. Replace school bus drivers on short notice from time to time.
5. Be available on call when required.
6. Provide information to the Director of Operations or designate of potentially serious and/or dangerous situations.
7. Liaise with school district personnel, various Ministries, enforcing agencies, inspectors, and general contractors.
8. Maintain, clean, service, adjust or repair tools and equipment related to the position.
9. Responsible for scheduling and coordination of work.
10. Implements and compiles, maintains maintenance program records and reports.
11. Responsible for the organization and operation of the district’s transportation departments.
12. Perform other job-related duties.
