About Farm Girl
Farm Girl is a growth-stage, better-for-you cereal and granola company scaling rapidly across Canadian and US retail. We are standing up a new production facility and need an experienced capital project manager to own its delivery end to end.
The Role
You will own the buildout of our new facility - installing and commissioning four imported production lines, securing all regulatory approvals, and coordinating every contractor on site - on time and on budget. This is a hands-on, single-owner role for someone who has run industrial buildouts before and can hold a complex project together across vendors, engineers, and regulators.
What You'll Own
Equipment & Overseas Vendor Management
- Serve as the single point of contact with our overseas equipment supplier, tracking all open clarifications (transformer sourcing, steam/pressure specs, electrical specs, document conflicts) to closure
- Manage shipping, customs, and receiving logistics for four production lines
- Coordinate vendor commissioning technicians through installation and start-up
- Flag and resolve specification and drawing conflicts before equipment arrives on site
Regulatory Approvals
- TSSA: manage oven and burner submissions, corporate ID setup, and the 8–12 week review timeline
- ESA: coordinate electrical inspection alongside the electrical contractor and P.Eng.-stamped drawings
- CFIA / SFCR: drive facility readiness for food-safety inspection (floor drains, flow, sanitation zones)
- Building permits: resolve outstanding items with the structural team and the landlord
Contractor Coordination
- Electrical, gas/thermal engineering, structural, and mechanical contractors
- Run any competitive HVAC bids
Must-Haves
- Food or industrial manufacturing facility buildout experience — not general construction PM
- Familiarity with Ontario TSSA and ESA processes, or a proven track record getting imported equipment approved
- Strong overseas supplier vendor management (timeline compression, document gaps, resolving drawing conflicts)
- Ability to read and critique engineering drawings — electrical, mechanical, and layout
Nice-to-Haves
- PMP certification; P.Eng. or relevant technical/engineering background
- Customs / equipment import experience
- Food-safety program familiarity (HACCP, SQF, BRC)
Engagement
Full-time engagement for the duration of the project, structured as a contract or fixed-term employment role. Compensation commensurate with experience, with a completion bonus tied to commissioning and approval milestones. To apply, send your resume and a short summary of a comparable buildout you delivered.
