Position Summary
The Early Learning Educator (Level 1 & 2) is responsible for supporting and implementing CEFA’s enriched curriculum while fostering a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for children across age groups, including infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Educators work collaboratively with a team to support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development while maintaining strong relationships with families and upholding Alberta childcare licensing standards.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom & Curriculum Implementation
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, engaging activities aligned with the CEFA curriculum
- Create and maintain a stimulating, clean, and safe classroom environment
- Support children’s independence, self-help skills, confidence, creativity, and social-emotional development
- Observe, document, and assess children’s progress, responding to individual learning needs
- and developmental stages
- Integrate creative arts, literacy, math, science, sensory exploration, music, and physical activity into daily routines
Collaboration & Communication
- Maintain open, warm, and professional communication with parents and guardians through verbal and written updates
- Work collaboratively with co-educators and school leadership to support classroom programming and school events
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and ongoing CEFA training
Health, Safety & Professional Standards
- Follow all Alberta Child Care Licensing regulations, health, safety, and school policies
- Ensure a secure, nurturing, and welcoming environment for all children
- Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and adherence to CEFA standards at all times
- Contribute positively to the school culture and team environment
Qualifications
- Valid Alberta Child Care Certification (required)
- First Aid and CPR certification (required)
- Previous experience in childcare or early learning settings (preferred)
- Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills
- Ability to perform physically active tasks (lifting, kneeling, standing, bending)
- Familiarity with innovative early learning approaches (Montessori, Reggio Emilia, or similar) is an asset
- Must pass a criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening
Working Conditions
- Full-time, permanent position
- Must be flexible to work between 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday
- Classroom-based role with active participation in daily routines and activities
- Occasional flexibility required for school events or special activities

Pay: $16.50-$18.00 per hour
