Payroll and Benefits Coordinator– Full time
As a key member of the United Active Living team, the Payroll and Benefits Coordinator will report directly to the Director People & Culture and will be responsible for the complete payroll cycle, time and attendance management, benefits administration and WCB management.
Responsibilities (includes but not limited to):
Payroll and Administration
- Full cycle process of payroll for bi weekly and semi-monthly cycles
- Data entry for personnel into the Payroll system (UKG) such as new hires, salary changes, benefit deductions, change in work status, terminations etc
- Tax reconciliations for quarterly and year end reviews
- Statistics Canada and CRA reporting
- Prepare and maintain payroll records and reports
Time and Attendance, Payroll and Human Resource Management Systems
- Responsible for auditing staff time recording
- Research and resolve problems, perform scheduled activities and liaison with service providers
- Prepare standard and ad hoc reports, queries and conduct appropriate audits to ensure data integrity
Human Resources and Admin support
- Assist in compiling the quarterly HR Stats with the HR Advisor – Total Rewards and Analytics
- Facilitation of training sessions regarding payroll, benefits etc
Other duties as required
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years’ experience with primary responsibility for full cycle payroll, time and attendance and benefits administration
- PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner or CPM (Certified Payroll Manager) designations or equivalent required
- Experience supporting Human Resources an asset
- Strong Excel skills
- Effective time management abilities combined with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong background working with data and conducting analysis
- Results driven project management skills
- Strong understanding of payroll and employment standards legislation
- Trustworthy and have the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality in maintaining business dealings and confidential matters.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external parties and lead with credibility, integrity and trust while achieving results and fostering a positive team culture.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Extended periods of sitting and screen time;
- This is an in-office role on our corporate team with some requirement to travel to community
