Midland Small Set Nursery School Inc. (Small Set) has been a cherished part of the Midland and North Simcoe community since its founding in 1981, born from a vision to create a nurturing, high-quality preschool experience.
Over the decades, hundreds of children have walked through Small Set’s doors, each one greeted with care, curiosity, and a commitment to their individual growth. Today, as a licensed, not-for-profit preschool, Small Set continues to be a place where families feel heard and where children thrive. Our educators, board members, and parents remain dedicated to creating an environment where every child feels safe, confident, and excited to learn.
Scope of the Position
The Early Learning Assistant/ Early Childhood Educator reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for assisting the Small Set Supervisor in care, education and supervision of children enrolled in the nursery school program. The individual is responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support each child’s growth and well-being in accordance with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of Small Set.
The successful individual will play a significant role in bringing the mission, vision, and values of Small Set to life by fostering a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment and building positive relationships with children, families, colleagues, and our Small Set Community.
The Early Learning Assistant/ Early Childhood Educator is responsible for ensuring that all practices are conducted in compliance with applicable legislative requirements, including the Child Care and Early Years Act 2014, and all licensing, health, and safety regulations.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Preference to a RECE (Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators)
- A minimum of two years experience working in an Early Learning Childcare
- Thorough knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, How Does Learning Happen?
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement developmentally appropriate play based programs that support all areas of children’s growth and development.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with children, families, colleagues, volunteers and community partners.
- Strong understanding of child development and best practices in early learning and care
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and participate in meetings, training and professional development as required.
- Current Standard First-Aid and CPR Certification
