This is a seasonal position under the Canada Summer Jobs program starting June 22nd, and ending August 2nd, 2026.
BGC Greater Saint John brings out the best potential of every child. Our Summer Slide Camp offers children in grades 1-5 a safe, affordable, inclusive, fun place to go during the summer break.
We provide challenging activities that encourage healthy living, personal growth, learning, and community involvement. We build self-esteem through supportive adult mentors and engaging activities that challenge and enrich the mind, body and spirit of each child.
BGC Greater Saint John is currently seeking Summer Slide Leaders for our 8-week Day Camp in Sussex. The overall goal is to implement the Summer Slide program for children attending elementary school in the Sussex area. This program is designed to help combat summer learning loss in a fun, summer camp setting. This program is designed to help children maintain their literacy and math skills over the summer months. To do this they will participate in fun educational activities throughout the day, both indoors and out.
Qualifications:
Applicants for Summer Slide will be hired under the Canada Summer Jobs Program and as such the criteria for this must be met. More information can be found here: https://www.jobbank.gc.ca/youth#sectionCSJ
- High school diploma or GED equivalency;
- Minimum 1-year prior experience working with school-age children in a group setting considered an asset;
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills;
· Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check;*
· Clear Social Development Background Check (conducted during interview process);
· Valid Basic First Aid CPR/AED Level C (Emergency).*
*Applicants may apply before they receive their First Aid certificate, criminal record check and SD check, but must have all in place before being offered a position.

Pay: $16.50 per hour
