Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Dairy Herdsperson to join our farm team. This role involves caring for dairy cattle, maintaining farm equipment, and ensuring the health and productivity of the herd. Responsibilities
- Feed, water, and monitor the health of dairy cattle daily
- Assist with milking procedures and maintain cleanliness of milking equipment
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on farm machinery and equipment
- Manage herd movement within the farm premises and assist with breeding programs
- Conduct regular inspections of fencing, barns, and other facilities to ensure safety and functionality
- Heavy lifting of feed bags, equipment parts, and other materials as needed
- Maintain accurate records of herd health, production, and feed inventory
- Follow all safety protocols and farm policies to ensure a safe working environment
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with livestock or in an agricultural setting is preferred
- Mechanical knowledge related to farm machinery is highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Strong physical stamina and endurance for outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and herd management techniques is a plus
- Ability to operate basic farm equipment and tools effectively
- A proactive attitude with excellent attention to detail and reliability
