Job Overview:
We are currently seeking an experienced Safety Inspector to support field operations within our Oil & Gas Technical Services division across Western Canada. This position is focused on ensuring safe execution of maintenance, shutdown, commissioning, construction, and field service activities at active industrial and energy facilities.
The Safety Inspector will provide frontline safety leadership in the field, working directly with crews, supervisors, contractors, and client representatives to monitor high-risk work activities including pressure piping, facility maintenance, equipment installations, hot work, confined space entry, rigging and lifting operations, lockout/tagout, and heavy equipment operations. This role is responsible for conducting field inspections, hazard assessments, site audits, THAs, incident investigations, and ensuring compliance with company safety programs, client requirements, and provincial OH&S regulations.
This is a field-based role requiring a strong presence on active job sites, including turnaround and shutdown environments, with 80% travel to various industrial facilities and energy sites as required. The ideal candidate brings experience supporting oil and gas operations, strong communication skills, and the ability to work closely with operations teams to promote a proactive safety culture in dynamic field conditions

What you do:
- Conduct daily field safety inspections and site observations across active oil & gas facilities, shutdowns, maintenance projects, and construction scopes
- Monitor high-risk work activities including hot work, confined space entry, lockout/tagout (LOTO), pressure piping, rigging and lifting operations, heavy equipment use, and live facility work
- Ensure all field operations are performed in compliance with company safety programs, client requirements, OH&S regulations, and site-specific procedures
- Participate in THAs, toolbox meetings, pre-job planning sessions, and daily safety briefings with field crews and supervisors
- Identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and at-risk behaviors, and work closely with operations personnel to implement corrective actions in a timely manner
- Support turnaround, maintenance, commissioning, and construction activities by maintaining a visible safety presence in the field
- Complete safety documentation including inspection reports, observation cards, incident reports, corrective action tracking, and regulatory documentation as required
- Assist with incident investigations, near miss reporting, root cause analysis, and follow-up corrective actions
- Provide ongoing guidance and mentorship to field personnel to promote safe work practices and a proactive safety culture
- Develop and deliver training programs, maintain training records and update safety documentation
- Build strong working relationships with clients, supervisors, subcontractors, and field crews to support safe and efficient project execution
What we are looking for:
- Minimum 5 years of safety experience within the oil & gas, industrial, or energy services sector
- Previous experience supporting field operations, shutdowns, maintenance, commissioning, or construction projects
- Strong understanding of OH&S legislation, industry safety standards, and safe work practices within live operating facilities
- Experience working around high-risk activities including confined space entry, hot work, rigging and lifting, pressure piping, and heavy equipment operations
- Valid safety certifications such as CSO, CSTS, H2S Alive, First Aid, WHMIS, and Fall Protection
- NCSO, CRSP, or other recognized safety designation considered a strong asset
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to engage effectively with field crews, supervisors, and client representatives
- Ability to conduct inspections, hazard assessments, incident investigations, and complete accurate safety documentation
- Comfortable working in fast-paced field environments with changing priorities and operational demands
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive and solution-oriented approach to safety
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Willingness to travel 80% of the time and work extended hours, shift work, or out-of-town assignments as required
