At 1st Electric, we're looking for a highly organized, solutions-focused Electrical Foreman/Estimator to join our growing team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, meeting customers, planning projects, and helping jobs run smoothly from start to finish.
You'll spend your time visiting residential and light commercial job sites, preparing detailed estimates, coordinating materials, and supporting our field crews. This is a hybrid office and field position—you'll stay connected to the work you enjoy without spending your days on the tools.

What You'll Do
Estimating & Site Assessments (Approximately 50%)
- Visit residential and light commercial job sites to assess project requirements.
- Review blueprints, drawings, and site conditions.
- Prepare accurate labour and material takeoffs.
- Develop competitive, profitable estimates and quotations.
- Meet with homeowners and business clients to explain project scope and answer technical questions.
- Build confidence with customers through professionalism and industry expertise.
Project Coordination & Material Procurement (Approximately 50%)
- Source materials and maintain strong relationships with electrical suppliers.
- Obtain pricing, issue purchase orders, and coordinate deliveries.
- Ensure materials arrive on site when needed to keep projects moving efficiently.
- Assist with scheduling crews based on project requirements.
- Price and manage change orders as projects evolve.
- Work closely with our operations and field teams to ensure successful project execution.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical ability with excellent communication and organizational skills.
Required Qualifications
- Red Seal Journeyman Electrician
- Minimum 5 years of field experience
- Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code
- Experience estimating residential renovations, custom homes, service upgrades, and light commercial projects
- Excellent planning, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Experience coordinating materials and working with electrical suppliers
- Valid Nova Scotia Driver's Licence with a clean driving abstract
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with digital estimating software and cloud-based job management systems
- Experience in project coordination or field supervision
