We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced Construction Foreman or Lead Hand to lead field crews and help deliver high-quality civil projects safely, on time, and to specification.
Wages & Compensation:
- Wage negotiable, depending on experience and qualifications
- Overtime is paid at time-and-a-half for any hours worked over 8 hours per day and 44 hours per week
- Travel allowance available for candidates commuting from within 120 km of Canmore

Work Schedule:
- 40 – 55+ hours per week
- Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed
- Day shifts
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, site plans and specifications
- Allocate tasks for the construction crew
- Adapt plans based on site conditions and material deliveries
- Supervise and direct on-site construction activities
- Work closely with supervisors and project managers to support project planning, coordination, and communication
- Resolve on-site issues and ensure smooth workflow
- Enforce BECL’s safety protocols and regulatory compliance
- Conduct daily safety briefings and ensure PPE is used appropriately
- Identify hazards and implement corrective measures as needed
- Ensure all work meets or exceeds required standards and specifications
- Inspect completed work and correct deficiencies
- Promote attention to detail across all site activities
- Monitor use of materials, tools, and equipment
- Report progress, delays, and incidents to upper management
- Maintain accurate site documentation and daily logs
- Provide hands-on guidance to crew members
- Support the development of junior staff through mentorship and knowledge sharing
- Foster a respectful, team-oriented culture on-site
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a construction supervisory or lead hand role
- Strong background in civil construction (e.g., excavation, grading, concrete, utilities)
- Experience reading and understanding construction plans, drawings, and blueprints
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- CSA-approved safety boots (required)
- CSTS, WHMIS, and First Aid certification (assets – training can be provided)
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
