Position Overview
Horvath Contracting is seeking an Interior Designer to join our team on a part-time basis to provide maternity leave coverage beginning in July 2026. While this position is initially intended as a temporary role, there is potential for ongoing employment beyond the maternity leave period for the right candidate.
We are looking for someone who can confidently step into active projects, support client relationships, and help maintain project momentum and efficiency.
This role involves both creative and operational responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle and is ideal for someone who is proactive, organized, collaborative, and able to take ownership of design execution and communication.
Proposed Schedule
- Part-time position
- Starting July 2026 (flexible)
- Tuesday–Thursday (flexible; Thursdays are ideal for in-office collaboration)
- Opportunity to work semi-remotely (minimum two days in office preferred)
- Approximately 8:00/9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Starting compensation: $28/hour, with the opportunity for a performance review and potential wage increase after three months
Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position may include:
- Client communication, meetings, and presentations
- Design development and project documentation
- Floor plans, elevations, and renderings
- Mood boards and design concept development
- Furniture, finish, fixture, and material sourcing
- Product selections and specifications
- Organizing project documentation, revisions, and approvals
- Site visits and collaboration with project managers, suppliers, and trades
- Supporting project timelines and helping ensure successful project execution across multiple active projects
- Assisting with design coordination from initial concept through project completion

Portfolio Requirement
To be considered for this position, applicants are asked to submit a portfolio or sample of their work along with their application.
Examples may include:
- Residential or commercial interior design projects
- Renderings, drawings, or floor plans
- Mood boards and design concepts
- Material and finish selections
- Before-and-after project examples
- Any other work that demonstrates design ability, creativity, and project experience
Candidates who do not have a formal portfolio are encouraged to submit project samples, photographs, or other relevant examples of their work.
