Job Overview
WINTEC is seeking experienced Finish Operators to join our road construction team. We are looking for skilled Dozer, Grader, and Skid Steer Operators with experience performing precision finish grading and base work. The ideal candidate has the ability to read grade stakes, operate equipment safely and accurately, and work efficiently under the direction of a Foreman to meet project specifications and deadlines. Strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced construction environment are essential.
Duties
- Operate dozers, graders, and skid steers safely and accurately to complete fine grading and finish base work.
- Read and interpret grade stakes, site plans, and project specifications to achieve required elevations and tolerances.
- Perform precision finish grading to ensure surfaces meet project and quality standards.
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently while meeting project schedules and production goals.
- Work closely with the Foreman and crew members to coordinate daily operations.
- Conduct daily pre-trip inspections and report any equipment deficiencies or maintenance concerns.
- Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning, fueling, greasing, and basic servicing of equipment.
- Maintain equipment in a clean, safe, and good working condition.
- Follow all company safety policies, safe work procedures, and Manitoba safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience performing finish grading and base work in a road construction environment.
- Experience operating dozers, graders, and/or skid steers.
- Ability to read and follow grade stakes accurately.
- Strong understanding of grading techniques, elevations, and construction specifications.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence required.
- Class 1 or Class 3 driver's licence considered an asset.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be safety-oriented and committed to following all company policies and procedures.
- Physically capable of performing manual labour and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
