Davidson & Sons Customs Brokers & Freight Forwarders is seeking an experienced Ocean Freight Coordinator to join our growing Freight Department. Experience Required
- Minimum 5 years' experience in international freight forwarding.
- Extensive experience handling both Ocean Imports and Ocean Exports.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian import and export procedures.
- Experience working directly with overseas agents and ocean carriers.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate international ocean import and export shipments from booking through final delivery.
- Communicate with overseas agents, carriers, terminals, rail providers, trucking companies, and customers.
- Open and manage files in the freight forwarding system.
- Ensure all pre-alert documentation is received and reviewed.
- Prepare shipment tracking reports and provide proactive customer updates.
- Arrange deliveries and monitor shipments to ensure on-time performance.
- Resolve operational issues quickly and professionally.
- Work closely with the sales team to ensure a seamless transition from quotation to operations.
- Maintain high levels of customer service while managing multiple shipments simultaneously.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of ocean freight operations experience.
- Thorough understanding of:
- Ocean Imports
- Ocean Exports
- Ocean carriers and sailing schedules
- Container terminals
- Rail transportation
- Drayage operations
- Customs documentation
- eManifest requirements
- Bills of Lading and shipping documentation
- Experience working with freight forwarding software (Longitude experience is an asset).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment.
