Role Description This is a full-time, on-site CNC Laser Operator role located in Cambridge, ON. The CNC Laser Operator will set up, program, and operate CNC laser cutting equipment to produce metal parts according to drawings and specifications. Day-to-day responsibilities include loading and unloading materials, performing test runs, monitoring machine performance, and adjusting settings to optimize cut quality and throughput. The role includes inspecting parts for dimensional accuracy and surface quality, identifying nonconformances, and working with supervisors to resolve issues. The CNC Laser Operator will perform basic machine maintenance, keep the work area clean and safe, and collaborate with fabricators, welders, and other team members to meet production schedules. Accurate documentation of work performed and adherence to safety, quality, and company procedures are essential.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in CNC machine operation, including setup, programming adjustments, and safe operation of CNC laser equipment.
- Experience with machining processes and milling or related metalworking operations in a production or fabrication environment.
- Strong quality control skills, including reading and interpreting drawings, using measuring tools, and documenting inspection results.
- General understanding of industrial machinery, basic troubleshooting, and routine preventive maintenance practices.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings; familiarity with CAD/CAM files for laser cutting is an asset.
- Previous experience in metal fabrication, welding environments, or manufacturing settings preferred.
- Commitment to workplace safety, including use of personal protective equipment and adherence to safety procedures.
- Effective communication skills, reliability, and ability to work both independently and as part of a production team.
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in machining, CNC operation, or related field is an asset.
Pay: $22.00-$28.00 per hour
