Purpose:
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Markham, Ontario.
The Senior Electrical Engineer provides high-quality electrical engineering services to Worley and its customers. This role is responsible for the technical execution of electrical engineering work across projects, supporting delivery to scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements, while contributing to mentoring and technical development within the electrical engineering team.
Responsibilities:
Deliver electrical engineering services that meet Worley, client, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
Key accountabilities include:
- Leading the execution of electrical engineering activities on assigned projects or defined project scopes.
- Supporting project planning and delivery, including participation in relevant meetings, preparation of progress reports, and compliance with required checking and quality assurance procedures.
- Ensuring project scope is clearly defined and that changes are managed in accordance with project change management processes.
- Providing technical input and support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, including:
- Preparation and review of electrical equipment and materials requisitions.
- Technical bid evaluations.
- Review of vendor documentation and purchase orders.
- Coordinating electrical engineering activities with multidisciplinary teams (process, instrumentation, mechanical, piping, automation) to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Identifying and resolving discrepancies between Worley and client standards and requirements.
- Supporting the development and technical review of electrical engineering deliverables.
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to intermediate and junior engineers and designers as required.
- Communicating effectively with internal teams, clients, and project stakeholders.
- Proactively identifying technical issues and risks, developing appropriate solutions, and escalating when needed.
What you will bring:
Technical and Industry Experience:
- Demonstrated experience delivering electrical engineering work on industrial projects (e.g., energy, mining, chemicals, power, or infrastructure).
- Working knowledge of engineering systems, workflows, and document management tools (e.g., SAP, KMS, or equivalent project systems).
- Familiarity with process safety and operability considerations (e.g., participation in HAZOP/LOPA where electrical systems interface with safety functions).
- Understanding of project scope definition, workshare execution, and the practical impacts of TA/NTA execution models.
Strong working knowledge of Electrical Engineering deliverables, including:
- Electrical single-line diagrams and schematics.
- Power distribution studies and load lists.
- Motor control center (MCC) layouts and schematics.
- Cable schedules, routing, tray and conduit layouts.
- Grounding and bonding drawings.
- Lighting and small power layouts.
- Area classification and hazardous area electrical layouts.
- Bills of material.
- Material requisitions.
- Construction and engineering work packages.
Working knowledge of electrical system design and application, including:
- Low and medium voltage power distribution systems.
- Motor control and protection systems.
- Variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Lighting systems and emergency power.
- Grounding, bonding, and lightning protection.
- Hazardous area electrical design and applicable codes/standards.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
Required:
- Accredited Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with PEO and eligibility to obtain registration with APEGA.
- Solid experience in electrical engineering roles on multidisciplinary projects.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, review, and interpret electrical designs, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills.
For applicants based in the province of Ontario, the salary range is $123,491 to $181,605 CAD.
Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
