Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Deli Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of deli items, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This role is vital in ensuring our customers have a positive shopping experience and receive high-quality food products. Prior experience in food service or the food industry is preferred, but we welcome motivated individuals eager to learn. The Deli Clerk plays a key role in food handling, sanitation, and upselling products to enhance sales.
Duties
- Prepare and assemble deli items such as sandwiches, salads, and other prepared foods with attention to quality and presentation
- Operate POS systems, including Micros POS, for accurate cash handling and transactions
- Assist customers with their selections, answer questions about products, and provide exceptional customer service
- Maintain proper food safety and sanitation standards in all food preparation areas
- Restock deli displays and ensure product freshness throughout the shift
- Handle cash register operations efficiently, including cashiering and upselling additional items
- Manage time effectively to serve customers promptly during busy periods
- Follow all health regulations and sanitation procedures to ensure a safe environment for both staff and customers
- Assist with inventory management and stock rotation as needed
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service, restaurant work, or the food industry is preferred but not required; willingness to learn on the job is essential
- Knowledge of food handling, safety standards, and sanitation practices
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly attitude
- Basic math skills for cash handling and POS transactions
- Ability to operate Micros POS systems efficiently
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks during busy hours
- Experience with cashiering, serving, or upselling products is a plus
- Kitchen or food preparation experience is advantageous but not mandatory
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Pay: $18.50-$19.50 per hour
