Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled registered massage therapist to provide relaxation massage therapy services for children with special needs. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, a gentle approach, and the ability to create a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment. The therapist will work closely with children and their families to understand individual needs and provide appropriate therapeutic sessions.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional relaxation massage therapy sessions for children with special needs in a safe and welcoming environment.
- Assess each child’s comfort level, preferences, and individual needs before and during sessions.
- Develop a positive rapport with children to help them feel comfortable and supported.
- Adapt massage techniques based on each child’s sensory needs, abilities, and responses.
- Maintain professional standards, client confidentiality, and accurate session documentation.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding children’s needs and progress.
- Follow all health, safety, hygiene, and professional practice guidelines.
- Maintain a calm, patient, and compassionate approach when working with children.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Valid Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) license/certification in accordance with applicable provincial/state regulations.
- Experience or interest in working with children, especially children with special needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, compassionate, and understanding approach.
- Ability to adapt techniques to meet individual client needs.
- Professionalism, reliability, and commitment to client care.
- Ability to maintain a safe and inclusive environment for children.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience providing massage therapy to children or individuals with developmental, sensory, or physical needs.
- Additional training in pediatric massage, sensory support, or related areas is an asset.
Pay: $39.67-$101.25 per hour
