Peters Brothers Construction Ltd is the premier paving contractor for the heartland of British Columbia. It is a privately owned and operated company with its head office in Penticton, British Columbia. While based in the Okanagan, Peters Brothers performs its quality work throughout the entire Province. It operates five permanent Asphalt plants in Penticton, Kelowna, Merritt, Dawson Creek, and Williams Lake. It also has five portable Asphalt plants along with all the necessary manpower and equipment to tackle any size or location project.
Peters Bros is looking to hire a Project Coordinator for Highway South & Recycling HIP.
What is the role?
Reporting to the Construction Manager, Highways Division, contributes to the goals and profits of the company by supporting the Project Management team. Building roads with primarily paving works and recycling. Work primarily with field Superintendent and Project Manager by providing assistance as required. This position is based in Penticton, 50% in the office and 50% at site which is required to be often at the project during the production season.
Duties and responsibilities are:
- Track and reconcile materials supplied and delivered to the Surfacing Team
- Manage and track truck haul tickets and summarize using spreadsheets
- Ensures timely accurate communication of all information and completion of all required documentation
- Help the Project Manger prepare progress reports and invoices for work completed
- Assist in the estimating process by evaluating bid specifications and drawings to ensure that everything that is required for a successful bid is addressed
- Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiates price. Follows up as required to ensure bids are received
- Review projects, analyzing and documenting estimated vs. actual costs, and the whole job – what was done, when, how, why. Use this data for estimating work/projects
- Ensure timely and accurate communication of all information/documentation
- Identify and implement efficiencies, process improvements and ways to save money
- Using the company ERP: SAP
Qualifications:
- Entry level requires a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Bachelor degree or Relevant industry experience
- Fundamental understanding of road construction materials and practices
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Minimum Class 5 Drivers license with a clean abstract
- Strong knowledge of civil construction practices, including grading, paving, and utilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of ERP: SAP is an asset
Working Conditions:
- Combination of office and field work environments.
- Travel to project sites may be required.
- Living out allowance (LOA) is provided when working remote
- Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment with changing priorities.
Salary range is between $68,000-$80,000/yr, depending on qualifications and experiences.
