Job Summary
The Sales Manager is responsible for leading, coaching, and developing the sales team to achieve dealership objectives while delivering an exceptional customer experience. This role oversees daily sales operations, customer engagement, lead management, inventory performance, sales process compliance, and employee development.
Working closely with dealership leadership, finance, marketing, and support departments, the Sales Manager will drive sales performance, support profitability, and foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and support Sales Consultants in achieving individual and dealership sales objectives
Provide daily coaching, feedback, and development opportunities to improve sales performance, product knowledge, and customer experience.
Work directly with Sales Consultants and customers to assist with vehicle presentations, negotiations, deal structuring, and closing opportunities.
Inventory Management & Used Vehicle Operations: Lead inventory management and used vehicle operations, including vehicle appraisals, time-to-lot performance, inventory merchandising in partnership with Marketing, pricing strategy, inventory aging management, and process optimization to maximize vehicle turn, profitability, and customer experience.
Monitor daily sales activities, customer interactions, and CRM utilization to ensure consistent follow-up and process adherence.
Ensure all showroom traffic, internet leads, phone opportunities, appointments, and customer communications are properly managed and documented.
Conduct regular one-on-one coaching sessions, sales meetings, and training activities to support continuous improvement.
Support the recruitment, onboarding, and training of Sales Consultants in collaboration with dealership leadership.
Ensure dealership sales processes, customer experience standards, and company policies are consistently followed by the sales team.
Review sales team performance metrics and identify coaching opportunities to improve appointment conversion, customer engagement, and sales results.
Work closely with the Finance Office to support a seamless customer experience and maximize dealership profitability.
Assist with vehicle merchandising, lot presentation standards, and inventory organization to ensure vehicles are displayed professionally and ready for sale.
Address customer concerns professionally and effectively while maintaining positive customer relationships and dealership reputation.
Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented culture within the sales department.
Work collaboratively with Finance, Marketing, Service, and other dealership departments to support overall dealership success.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and standards.
Support dealership Joint Health and Safety initiatives by reinforcing safe work practices, promoting employee awareness and accountability, and helping maintain compliance with all applicable health and safety policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of automotive sales leadership or management experience.
Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
Strong understanding of automotive sales processes, CRM systems, and dealership operations.
Demonstrated leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Strong business acumen and the ability to interpret sales and performance metrics.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills.
Positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude.
Self-motivated with a strong desire to achieve results.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and performance-driven environment.
Valid OMVIC License.
Postsecondary education in business, marketing, or a related field is considered an asset.
Interest in the automotive industry and the Nissan and Infiniti brand.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
