Job Description
Tl’azt’en Nation is seeking a reliable and technically skilled Internal AV and IT Support Technician to provide on site audio visual, technology, and basic IT support three days per week.
This role supports the daily technology needs of staff, leadership, meetings, events, video conferencing, equipment setup, troubleshooting, and internal systems coordination. The successful candidate will help ensure staff have access to working technology, meetings run smoothly, and AV and IT issues are addressed in a timely and practical way.
About the Role
The Internal AV and IT Support Technician will provide hands on support for computers, printers, phones, Microsoft 365, Teams meetings, projectors, screens, microphones, sound systems, video conferencing equipment, and other office technology.
This position is ideal for someone who is service oriented, patient, organized, and able to explain technical issues clearly to staff with varying levels of technology experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide on site AV and IT support three days per week.
- Set up, test, and support audio visual equipment for meetings, presentations, training sessions, events, and community meetings.
- Support Microsoft Teams meetings, hybrid meetings, video conferencing, cameras, microphones, speakers, screens, projectors, and related equipment.
- Troubleshoot basic computer, printer, scanner, phone, internet, email, and software issues.
- Assist staff with Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, file access, and general user support.
- Support onboarding and offboarding technology needs, including equipment setup, access coordination, and return of devices.
- Track, organize, and maintain IT and AV equipment, including laptops, tablets, projectors, cables, headsets, cameras, and accessories.
- Maintain basic inventory records for technology and AV equipment.
- Identify equipment repair needs, replacement needs, missing items, or supply requirements.
- Coordinate with external IT providers, vendors, or service providers when issues need to be escalated.
- Support printer and copier troubleshooting, supply needs, and service calls.
- Assist with password resets, account access requests, and basic user support where authorized.
- Ensure meeting rooms are ready for use and technology is working before scheduled meetings.
- Document recurring issues and recommend improvements to technology systems, equipment, and processes.
- Follow confidentiality, privacy, records management, and information security requirements.
- Provide respectful and patient support to staff, leadership, presenters, guests, and community members.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalent required.
- Certificate, diploma, coursework, or training in Information Technology, Computer Systems, Audio Visual Technology, Office Technology, or a related field considered an asset.
- Experience providing IT support, AV support, help desk support, office technology support, or related technical services considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Windows based systems, printers, and common office technology.
- Experience setting up and troubleshooting AV equipment, including microphones, cameras, projectors, speakers, screens, and hybrid meeting technology.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and customer service skills.
- Ability to explain technical information clearly and respectfully.
- Strong organization skills and ability to track equipment, follow up on issues, and maintain records.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle access related information appropriately.
- Experience working with external IT vendors or service providers considered an asset.
- IT certifications, AV training, or related technical education considered assets.
- Knowledge of Tl’azt’en Nation culture and community, or willingness to learn.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License considered an asset.
- Criminal Record Check may be required.
Working Conditions
- Part time position working three days per week.
- Work is performed primarily on site in office, meeting, and community spaces.
- May require occasional support for meetings, events, urgent technology needs, or after hours activities.
- May require sitting, standing, walking, lifting light equipment, moving AV items, setting up meeting spaces, and working with cables or equipment.
