About Us
ProDesign Automation, based in Brampton, Ontario, has been designing and building custom automated machinery for small and mid-sized projects since 2007. We work across industries including life sciences, food and beverage, automotive, packaging, injection moulding, and general industry — building everything from custom conveyors and robotic assembly cells to full turn-key automation systems. All of our mechanical design, electrical/controls design, fabrication, and assembly is done 100% in-house, right here in our shop. Every customer who has ordered a machine from us since our founding is still an active customer today, and our systems are now running in facilities around the world.
About the Role
We build custom industrial machines, and we're looking for a junior machine builder to join our shop team. This is a hands-on role where you'll help assemble machines, fabricate parts, wire control panels, and weld — while also pitching in on the day-to-day support work that keeps a busy shop running smoothly.
You don't need to walk in the door already knowing how to weld, wire a panel, or run a CNC machine. We'll teach you all of that. What we're really looking for is someone with a mechanical mindset — someone who's naturally curious about how things go together, isn't afraid to get their hands dirty, and picks things up quickly.
If you've got some background tinkering with cars, building things in the garage, working with wood or metal, or doing construction/trades work — even just as a hobby — that tells us a lot about how you'll do here.
This is a great fit for someone early in their career, including right out of high school, who wants to learn a real trade and build toward something bigger. We also welcome candidates coming from other trades who are looking to make the switch into machine building and automation — see below.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assembling machines from mechanical drawings and build instructions
- Fabricating parts (we'll train you on our CNC equipment)
- Wiring electrical control panels (we'll train you on this too)
- Welding (we'll train you on this one as well)
- Supporting general shop operations: picking up/dropping off parts and materials, loading/unloading deliveries, operating a forklift
- Keeping the shop clean, organized, and safe
- Helping maintain shop machines and equipment
- Pitching in wherever the shop needs an extra set of hands
What We're Looking For
- A genuine interest in mechanical work and how things are built
- A strong focus on safety
- Demonstrated hands-on experience or intuition — through past jobs, hobbies, or personal projects (auto repair, woodworking, metalworking, general construction, etc.)
- Reliability, a strong work ethic, and willingness to learn
- Comfort working both independently and as part of a team
- Valid full G driver's license required
- Forklift certification is a plus, but not required — we can train the right person
No formal certifications or trade school required. We care more about attitude, curiosity, and mechanical aptitude than a resume full of credentials.

This role takes place on an active shop floor and involves regular lifting, standing, and moving materials and parts throughout the day.
