Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Class 1 - Short Haul Truck Driver to join our transportation team. This role involves local delivery routes, ensuring timely and safe transportation of freight within designated areas that includes Vancouver. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, familiarity with heavy equipment, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. This position offers an opportunity to work with a professional team in a dynamic environment, utilizing various skills including forklift operation and automotive repair as needed.
Responsibilities
- Operate Class 1 commercial trucks for short-haul deliveries within local or regional routes.
- Safely load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment when necessary.
- Ensure all freight is secured properly before transit to prevent damage during transportation.
- Conduct routine inspections of the vehicle, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and brake systems.
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting to maintain vehicle safety and functionality.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and communicate effectively with dispatch regarding delivery status.
- Follow all safety protocols and traffic regulations to ensure safe operation at all times.
- Assist with warehouse duties such as inventory management or equipment operation as required.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts is preferred.
- Knowledge of freight handling, securement techniques, and transportation safety standards.
- Ability to perform basic automotive repairs and troubleshooting.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation and safety checks.
- Physical ability to lift heavy loads and perform manual tasks related to freight handling.
- Prior experience in commercial driving or logistics is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided for qualified candidates.
- Commitment to safety, punctuality, and professional conduct throughout all duties.
Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour
