Our Water Services Department is seeking a Draftsperson III who will work with our engineering and CAD teams to prepare and deliver engineering drawings related to Metro Vancouver’s facilities including water, liquid waste and other works. Your drafting assignments may range from supporting operations and maintenance teams, preliminary design, up to records drawings.
You are an intermediate CAD/ BIM professional with wide ranging infrastructure experience, including working experience in preparing Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls (EIC) engineering drawings of moderate complexity for water, sewage and drainage systems. You have several years of experience using drafting tools such as Autodesk AutoCAD, Plant 3D and Revit software.
This role:

Prepares preliminary and final engineering drawings of water, sewage and drainage systems including sewage treatment plants, water reservoirs, pumping stations and ancillary structures.

Reduces and plots field notes of traverses, topographic and hydrographic surveys.

Prepares detailed structural, mechanical and electrical drawings, topographic plans, tabulations, bills of material and performs the technical calculations required.

Prepares orders for legal plans, existing and future underground service reference plans and maintains progress reports.

May occasionally assist in and check the work of one or more drafting subordinates.

Performs clerical and statistical duties related to the work.

Performs other work of equal importance, difficulty and responsibility, requiring comparable qualifications.
To be successful, you have:

Completion of Grade 12, including courses in mathematics with Trigonometry and Physics; one year drafting course, plus supplementary courses in job related subjects. Considerable experience as a Draftsperson II or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Good knowledge of drafting practice techniques and standards; basic technical mathematics; basic engineering concepts and construction methods.

Ability to perform skilled drafting and to do the associated calculations accurately.

Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.

Ability to work efficiently with limited supervision.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Good visual and numerical aptitude.

Skill in the use of drafting and computing instruments (e.g. Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, etc.).
