We are hiring a Business Development & Reporting Coordinator.
About QCsolver
QCsolver is a service and technology company that helps Canadian public sector organizations manage the compliance side of their supply chains. Utilities, municipalities, hospitals, universities and school boards all can use our platform to make sure the contractors working on their sites carry the right insurance, the right safety credentials and the right coverage. Most systems just store the documents. We review them for our clients, which is why they stay with us.
We have been in business since 2012 and we are Canadian owned and Canadian hosted. Growth has accelerated sharply over the last two years, and this role exists because of it. On a team of eight, what you do is visible from your first week.
About the role
This is an entry level role for someone outgoing who likes people and is comfortable with technology. You do not need years of experience. We care far more about your attitude and your aptitude than your resume, and our hiring process is built to measure both.
Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. We will train you on everything specific to our business.
One thing to be clear about up front: this is not a cold calling job. Cold outreach is the founder's job and it stays that way. Your calls and emails go to clients, suppliers and people who already or should know us, and your purpose is to keep those relationships warm and keep QCsolver top of mind. You do need to be comfortable on the phone and comfortable meeting people in person, because both are a daily part of the work.
What you will do
Business development and sales support. This is the priority and the largest part of your week.
- Follow up with prospects and warm leads by phone, email and LinkedIn
- Keep the prospect pipeline current and make sure nothing goes quiet
- Option to represent QCsolver at conferences and industry events across Ontario
- Prepare presentations and materials for the founder ahead of client meetings
- Help coordinate proposals and follow up after they are sent
Reporting. The second priority.
- Maintain and update the client facing reports our customers depend on
- Check report data for accuracy before it goes out
- Pull together numbers from various sources
- Learn our reporting tools, including Power BI and Excel. Full training is provided.
Client and supplier outreach. The third priority.
- Contact clients and their suppliers to help them complete onboarding
- Support the customer service team when new client volume spikes
- Keep records current so the reporting stays trustworthy
Who you are
- Outgoing, and genuinely energized by talking to new people
- Comfortable on the phone and comfortable in a room of people you have not met
- Interested in helping a growing company expand even quicker
- Comfortable with technology and quick to learn new software without being hand held
- Accurate and detail minded. Compliance is our product, so precision matters.
- Organized and self-directed. You do not wait to be told what needs doing.
- Clear in writing and in conversation, in English, by phone and by email
- Curious. You ask a question before you make an assumption.
Nice to have, not required
- Conestoga College Business Development and Sales graduate certificate, or the Business Marketing diploma. The Business Development and Sales curriculum lines up closely with this role and we would be glad to see those graduates apply.
- Any hands on use of Excel, Google Sheets, Power BI or a CRM (we use HubSpot)
- Any customer service, retail, hospitality or sales support work where you dealt with people directly
- A valid Ontario driver's licence for occasional travel to conferences and client sites
What we offer
- Salary range from $19.00 to $22.00 per hour
- A performance bonus. The structure is set and confirmed with you before your offer letter is issued, so you know exactly what you are working toward.
- A formal review at three months
- Extra paid time off on top of standard vacation entitlement, birthday off, paid summer hours,
- Full training. No prior experience in this industry is expected.
- Conferences and industry events, and the professional network that comes with them. Founder has over 25,000 LinkedIn Followers.
- Direct access to leadership on a team of eight, and real room to grow as we grow
- An office in Cambridge, Ontario with easy access from Highway 401 and on a bus route. Free parking.
Our hiring process
1. Apply with your resume. A cover letter is optional.
2. If you are selected you will be offered a 15 minute Zoom call. Short, conversational, no trick questions. We just want to meet you.
3. A practical exercise in our Cambridge office, for about an hour. You will do a short version of the actual work: a phone conversation, a piece of writing and a data check. A computer and everything you need is provided, and you can ask questions throughout. It is designed to show us how you think, not to test what you already know.
