Director of Finance – Risk & Analysis
Summary
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for
month end accounting schedule preparation, assistance with ERP implementation, forecasting, financial
performance reporting and analysis.
What You’ll Do – The Role (Responsibilities)
Month End Activities
• Prepare schedules and analysis to support trial balances, balance sheets and other financial
statements.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, including intercompany.
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of fixed asset schedules.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including calculating and recording of accruals.
- Reconcile sub ledgers to general ledger.
- Assist with integrating accounting for new acquisitions.
- Other month end tasks and responsibilities required from time to time.
ERP Implementation
• Assist with the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Input historical financial and non-financial data into Dynamics 365 for comparative figures.
- Testing and reconciling reporting between current accounting systems and Dynamics 365.
- Other ERP implementation tasks required from time to time.
Financial Analysis and Forecasting Activities
• Prepare variance analysis and commentary for department and branch income statements
compared to budget and historical figures.
- Development of budget and forecasts for all departments and general administration costs.
- Capex tracking and forecasting.
- Preparation of monthly KPI and other performance management metrics.
- Preparation of monthly and ad hoc external reporting schedules.
- Supporting financial reporting and analysis of acquisitions.
- Other tasks and responsibilities as may be required from time to time consistent with the
position of Senior Financial Analyst and the job description and duties set out herein.
What You Need (Requirements)
• Bachelors degree
- CPA designation or completion of CFE and working towards CPA designation.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive work experience in accounting in a multi-department, multibranch environment with separate cost centers in multiple provinces is required.
- Experience with job costing and/or a field service organization considered an asset.
- ERP system experience is required. Microsoft Dynamics or Microsoft Great Plains (GP)
experience is considered an asset.
- Work with others in the Company as a team and communicate in such a way that will foster
harmony and collaboration, always putting the customer (external and internal) first.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills (including pivot tables, “if” and “V/H/X Lookup” functions).
- Excellent and effective communication skills, both verbal and written are required.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with all departments.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate with all levels within the
organization.
- Excellent organizational, time management and prioritizing skills while working under tight
deadlines.
- Strong problem identification and resolution skills.
- Follow all Company Health and Safety Policies and Guidelines and Privacy Policies.
- In the case of a power outage or declared State of Emergency by any level of Government, be
available for work.
Working Conditions
• Ability to prepare, attend and conduct presentations.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
- Occasional overtime as required (i.e., month-end and year-end).
- Lifting or moving up to 10lbs may be required.
