Job Summary
Our Brunch Cooks show attention to detail in all of their work. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performing delegated tasks from Sous Chef, Chef and/or General Manager
- Day to day preparation and maintaining a prep list of station duties
- Prepares vegetables, fruit, meat and seafood with great technique and safety at all times
- Taking effective notes for station set up and service
- Preparing food according to recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications set out by the leadership team
- Operating standard kitchen equipment with caution and care
- Treating their colleagues with respect and dignity at all times
- Maintaining clean and organized stations at all times, no exceptions
- Following FIFO method to maximize product freshness
- Working collaboratively with back of the house team members
- Moving food products and supplies between outlets when necessary
- Reporting any equipment/utensil malfunctions/deficiencies to Chef on duty
- Assisting in food inventory and control
- Assisting in properly receiving and storing delivered items
- Cleaning food prep areas, equipment, utensils and strictly adhere to sanitation, food safety, and hygiene guidelines
- Strictly adhering to WHMIS and MSDS guidelines Keep the work area, utensils and production equipment in a clean, sanitized state
- Restocking any low items during the shift
- Performing all opening and closing assignments as instructed
- Following safe food handling procedures at all times
- Adhering to the Health and Safety policies and procedures outlined in the Health and Safety Program
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required
Qualifications
- 1-2 years cooking experience in a fast-paced restaurant
- Culinary diploma is an asset
- Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills
- Ability to take direction and work calmly and effectively under pressure
- Able to spend 100% of the time standing
- Experience cooking and handling food in a high-volume dining restaurant
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to lift items of up to 40 lbs.
