Journeyman Carpenter – Commercial Construction

ARCHICON CM & Consulting Inc. is looking for an experienced Journeyman Carpenter to join our growing construction team in Calgary.
We are looking for someone with strong commercial construction experience who takes pride in their work, works well as part of a team, and is comfortable taking on a variety of scopes on active construction sites.
Qualifications
- Certified/Ticketed Journeyman Carpenter
- Minimum 5 years of commercial carpentry experience, preferably with a General Contractor
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a ticketed Journeyman
- Commercial construction experience is required; this position is not intended forresidential/framing-only experience
- Valid CSTS certification required
- Fall Protection, First Aid, Skid Steer and Telehandler certifications are considered assets
- Reliable transportation
- Must have your own basic personal tools
- Must have required PPE, including CSA-approved work boots, hard hat and high-visibility clothing
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches
- Complete building layouts based on construction drawings
- Take accurate measurements and calculate material requirements
- Complete material take-offs from drawings
- Cut, shape and install lumber and other construction materials
- Perform rough carpentry and framing, including formwork as required
- Perform finish carpentry, including door and hardware installation
- Complete miscellaneous finishing work as required
- Assemble and install doors, cabinets, shelving and other building components
- Build scaffolding and other construction structures as required
- Assist with material handling, including loading and unloading
- Operate skid steers or telehandlers when trained and authorized
- Complete required safety paperwork and inspections
- Assist with general site duties and other scopes as required
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is reliable, safety-conscious, hardworking and quality-focused. You should be comfortable working independently when required while also being able to work effectively with Site Superintendents, supervisors, trades and other members of the project team.
This is a hands-on position in a commercial construction environment, and we are looking for someone who is willing to contribute wherever needed to help keep the project moving.
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Calgary, Alberta
Schedule: Monday to Friday, with additional hours as project requirements dictate
Experience: Commercial Carpentry – 5+ years required
Certification: Journeyman Carpenter certification required
