A multi-company office in Maple Ridge is seeking a full-time Accounting Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will 1 year of accounting experience in an office environment along with the following:
Knowledge, Skills & Proficiency:
- Performs a high volume of full cycle accounts payable processing
- Responsible for cheque runs, expense reports, credit applications, visa payments.
- Produces monthly statements and equipment cost reports.
- Oversees all purchase orders / change orders for inventory.
- Records, processes, and pays vendor invoices using Sage 50.
- Ensures proper backup (packing slips and purchase orders) matched to and cross referenced with actual invoices.
- Ensures the proper approval and tracking of vendor invoices including verifying the accuracy of vendors, items, quantities, prices, and purchase terms.
- Ensures vendor payments (as required) are made in a timely manner to comply with vendor terms.
- Investigates and reports accounts payable discrepancies.
- Assists with posting payroll time entries.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- AR/AP tasks such as credit card, cheque and electronic payments
- Prepare and review billings and finalize invoices
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Customer service with an approachable, friendly demeanor
- Basic office duties including filing, scanning, copying, faxing, emailing, etc.
- Incoming / Outgoing mail and courier management
- Additional basic administrative duties as required by office manager and project managers
Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma in Accounting preferred.
- 1-3 years of practical experience in an accounts payable or similar financial role.
- Experience within the construction industry is not required but is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Sage 50 or similar software strongly preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with ability to multi-task.
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering data.
- Ability to work independently in a high-volume environment to meet tight deadlines.
- Legally eligible to work for any employer in Canada.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $20.00-$26.00 per hour
