Duties & Responsibilities
- Circle of Care
- Provide individual, group, and family counselling for children and youth
Program
- Support planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of child and youth mental health initiatives
- Incorporate Indigenous cultural teachings, Elders, and traditional healers in program delivery where appropriate
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and program evaluations
- Assist in coordinating services with other units and community partners
Administration
- Maintain accurate and timely client records and case notes
- Compile program data for reporting and evaluation purposes
- Provide administrative support to the Unit Supervisor as needed
- Deliver crisis intervention and short-term counselling as needed
- Develop and monitor wellness plans in collaboration with clients, families, and care providers
- Conduct outreach and follow-up with children, youth, and families to ensure continuity of care
- Liaise with schools, hospitals, and community agencies to support clients’ needs
- Ensure services are provided in compliance with confidentiality policies and relevant legislation (e.g., PHIPA, CYFSA)
Qualifications & Experience:
- BSW/MSW, Counselling Psychology, or equivalent training and experience in child and youth mental health
- An understanding of the social determinants of health and other issues relevant to indigenous communities in Toronto; respect for Traditional healing
- Registration with a recognized professional college (e.g., OCSWSSW, CRPO)
- Demonstrated experience working with children, youth, and families in mental health settings
- Knowledge of culturally safe, trauma-informed, and client-centered interventions
- Strong interpersonal, advocacy, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills
- Experience working with Indigenous children, youth, and families, and knowledge of Indigenous determinants of health
