Job Overview:
The Assistant Director provides a positive first impression for potential and existing customers, fields calls from customers, schedules appointments, and coordinates community and centre marketing activities and events. The assistant Director is also responsible for leading the day-to-day administrative tasks in the Centre such as managing programs, proctoring assessments, conducting inquiry calls, hosting welcome conference, enrolment meetings and other tasks Centre Director or Education Director assigns.
The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the Director of Education in delivering a high-quality personal customer experience by ensuring that Sylvan education programs are delivered by teachers as designed and that the ongoing education needs of Sylvan families are met. To ensure a personal learning experience, the Assistant Director monitors student performance, manages Sylvan programs, and meets regularly with families. The Assistant Director also observes and coaches the teaching staff, ensuring robust instructional experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Manages and delivers all conference activities such as preparing conference materials and meeting with parents to discuss student progress.
- Assist with hiring teachers, and ensure that all teachers are trained and certified to deliver Sylvan programs.
- Support directors to run day-to-day operations including but not limited to filling in as teacher, managing Sylvan programs, scheduling student programs, conducting parent meetings, etc.
- Monitors student progress to ensure goals are achieved and ongoing family needs are met.
- Greets and assists students, parents, and potential customers according to Sylvan standards.
- Fields inquiry calls from potential customers; fields calls from current families.
- Assists Centre Director and Director of Education with preparing materials for parent conferences, assessments, tours, and other customer appointments.
- Assists Centre Director with other day-to-day tasks of running the Centre such as managing billing, collecting payments, and maintaining centre supplies.
- Assists Centre Director with maintaining the professional appearance of the centre according to Sylvan standards.
- Supports standards and procedures to ensure student safety and well-being.
- May assist teachers with preparation for instruction; gathers and prepares materials as appropriate.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Must have a minimum of a Bacholor's degree.
- Must be able to speak Mandarin.
- Minimum of one year tutoring or teaching experience preferred.
- Previous retail and/or sales experience.
- Familiarity with instructional technology and tablet computers.
- Experience using Microsoft Word and other standard business applications used by the centre.
- Knowledge of general office equipment such as copiers, printers, and office phones.
- Experience using social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) preferred.

Pay: $20.00-$21.00 per hour
