Position: Counsellor – Mental Health & Addictions, Children, Youth, Family Support
Term: Term to March 31, 2027, possible extension
Hours: 24-28 hours per week

Key duties
- Provide assessment, counselling, and therapeutic interventions for children, youth, adults and families
- Support individuals experiencing mental health concerns, emotional distress, substance use challenges, family conflict, parenting concerns and other life stressors
- Develop individualized service plans in collaboration with clients and community partners
- Deliver services using evidence-informed, trauma-informed, culturally safe, and harm-reduction practices
- Able to perform accurate record keeping, report writing and correspondence. Written work is kept up-to-date, clearly written and logically organized
- Identify and liaise with government, social, economic, recreational and educational services/agencies in the community and area that will meet clients’ needs
- Development and implement therapeutic plans and programs in consultation with the ED, Clinical Supervisor, referring agent and other related professionals
Education, training and experience
- Masters and/or Bachelor of Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Human Services, or a related field. Equivalent education and experience may be considered
- Experience providing counselling and support services to children, youth, adults and families
- Knowledge of mental health, substance use, family systems, child and youth development, and community-based service delivery
- Understanding of strength-based, trauma-informed, culturally safe and harm-reduction practices
- Strong assessment, communication, documentation, and case management skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
