The Department of Math & Computer Science is seeking Contract Academic Staff to teach the following in-person courses during the 2026 – 2027 academic year.
Fall Term: Classes run from September 9 to December 11, 2026, with an exam period following.
Winter Term: Classes run from January 5 to April 9, 2027, with an exam period following.
62:290 Calculus III, 3 credit hours
An introduction to the calculus, analysis and geometry of functions of more than one variable, infinite series, partial differentiation, polar coordinates, parametric equations, and selected applications.
Fall Term, Slot 1 – Mon/Wed/Fri 8:30 – 9:20
62:456 Computational Methods in Graphy Theory, 3 credit hours
Elements of combinatorial mathematics, including graph-theory, will be discussed. Various algorithms for manipulating graphs and other combinatorial algorithms will also be discussed along with their application to problems.
Fall Term, Slot 10 – Tues/Thurs 8:30 – 9:50
62:172 Introduction to Statistical Inference, 3 credit hours
A continuation of 62 :171. Estimation, hypothesis testing, two-sample tests, tests for goodness of fit, contingency tables, regression and correlation, analysis of variance, and non-parametric statistics.
Winter Term, Slot 3 – Mon/Wed/Fri 10:40 – 11:30
62:182 Linear Algebra I, 3 credit hours
Systems of linear equations, matrices and elementary matrix operations, matrix inverse, trace, determinants, vectors, linear combinations including linear dependence and independence, vector spaces and subspaces, including null space and rank, bases, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, dot product, norm, cross product and linear mappings in n-dimensional space.
Winter Term, Slot 4 – Mon/Wed/Fri 11:40 – 12:30
62:191 Calculus II, 3 credit hours
A continuation of 62 :181 Calculus I, with more advanced techniques of problem solving. This includes calculus of trigonometric, exponential, and logarithmic functions, and techniques of integration.
Winter Term, Slot 2 – Mon/Wed/Fri 09:30 – 10:20
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in mathematics or statistics is preferred; a Masters’ Degree in mathematics, statistics, or a closely related discipline is required. Applicants must have successful teaching experience and relevant expertise in the specified area. Applicants may seek to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to the Masters’ degree and are invited to contact the Chair of the Selection Committee at the address below on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials.
Salary: $8,132.00 per 3 credit hour course
