Position Summary:
Membertou is seeking a skilled and dependable Marine Electronics and Electrical Technician to support the electronics, electrical, and operational needs of Membertou’s marine fleet. This position will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, installing, and troubleshooting marine electronics and electrical systems across the fleet.
The role will also support the wiring, maintenance, and technical needs of Membertou’s new electric boat project, Lektrike’l Walipotl, contributing to innovation, sustainability, and continued growth within Membertou’s marine operations.
This is a full-time permanent position that requires strong technical knowledge, independent judgment, problem-solving skills, and the ability to respond to urgent fleet needs when required.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing Membertou’s fleet marine electronics and electrical needs.
- Installing, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting marine electronic systems.
- Supporting electrical repairs and maintenance on vessels and related marine equipment.
- Wiring, maintaining, and supporting systems associated with the electric boat project, Lektrike’l Walipotl.
- Responding to urgent fleet-related electronic or electrical issues as required.
- Supporting vessel readiness by ensuring electronics and electrical systems are safe, reliable, and operational.
- Procuring marine electronics, parts, and related equipment at reduced or competitive pricing where possible.
- Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers, vendors, and service providers.
- Identifying opportunities to generate new business related to marine electronics, service, repair, or sales.
- Maintaining accurate records of repairs, installations, equipment purchases, inspections, and service work completed.
- Providing technical advice and recommendations to management regarding marine electronics, electrical systems, and equipment needs.
- Supporting transition planning, training, and knowledge transfer as required.
- Following all workplace health and safety requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
The successful candidate should have:
· Demonstrated experience in marine electronics repair, installation, and maintenance.
· Experience working with marine electrical systems.
· Knowledge of vessel electronics, navigation systems, communication systems, wiring, batteries, panels, and related marine equipment.
· Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and complete repairs safely and efficiently.
· Experience sourcing, pricing, and procuring marine electronics or related equipment.
· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
· Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
· Ability to communicate clearly with management, vessel operators, suppliers, and other team members.
· Ability to respond to urgent operational needs, including after-hours fleet issues when required.
· A valid driver’s licence would be considered an asset.
· Relevant certifications, training, or specialized marine electronics qualifications would be considered an asset.

Working Conditions
This position may require work in marine, shop, dockside, and vessel-based environments. The role may involve evening, weekend, or emergency response work depending on fleet needs. On-call expectations will be managed in accordance with organizational policies and applicable employment standards.
