Overview:
We’re hiring a Journeyman Millwright for a remote project at the Port of Churchill.
This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in bringing a major northern port back online after years of limited operation. There’s a lot of industry attention on this project, with long-term plans to expand Churchill into a critical Arctic trade corridor.
Candidates located in Manitoba & Saskatchewan will be prioritized.
Responsibilities
- Carry out daily work assignments to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks
- Mentor and support junior technicians and apprentices; delegate work effectively and lead with a proactive, problem-solving approach
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and quality protocols while maintaining a clean and organized work environment
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure clear communication and smooth operational flow
- Maintain a hands-on leadership approach to ensure the optimal team performance and reliability
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues, developing practical and effective solutions
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and prevent equipment failures or downtime
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations
- Deliver excellent customer service by responding promptly to maintenance requests
- Complete all required paperwork, safety documentation, and field reports, including photos and notes
Experience
- Trade experience within the grain industry considered a strong asset
- Strong knowledge of industrial maintenance practices, standards, and procedures
- Proficient in reading and interpreting schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Experience working with PLCs and control systems is highly desirable
- Skilled in welding and basic fabrication tasks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to resolve complex mechanical issues
This role requires someone self-sufficient, adaptable, and confident working independently.
Schedule & Location
- Location: Churchill, MB (Port of Churchill)
- Rotation: 30 days in Churchill/14 days out
- Shifts: 8–12 hours depending on operations and season
- Start Date: May 8 (approximate)
- Duration: Through end of October 2026
Options to extend employment after the season completion, located in Saskatoon

Compensation
- $70/hour for every hour worked — no split rates
- $45/hour paid on travel days and scheduled days off (8 hours)
- Completion bonus available
- Company benefits begin after 3-month probation
