Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Steel Cleaning Technician to join our team. This role involves maintaining the cleanliness and safety of steel surfaces and equipment through thorough cleaning processes. The ideal candidate will have experience with custodial tasks, facilities maintenance, and the use of various hand and power tools. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where attention to detail and safety are paramount.
Responsibilities
- Use hand tools and power tools to clean and prepare steel surfaces for processing or finishing
- Perform facilities maintenance tasks related to cleaning equipment and work areas
- Conduct commercial cleaning of large steel structures, machinery, and surrounding facilities
- Operate cleaning equipment safely and efficiently to remove debris, rust, or contaminants from steel surfaces
- Assist with custodial duties to ensure a safe, organized, and clean work environment
- Manage time effectively to complete cleaning tasks within scheduled shifts
- Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate cleaning schedules and report any issues or safety hazards
- Heavy lifting of materials or equipment as needed during cleaning procedures
Requirements
- Previous custodial or facilities maintenance experience preferred
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment required
- Experience with commercial cleaning or industrial cleaning environments is a plus
- Strong communication skills for effective teamwork and reporting
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines and maintain productivity standards
- Good customer service skills are beneficial for interacting with team members and supervisors
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to safety protocols
Pay: $17.60-$29.47 per hour
