As we continue to grow, we are looking for an organized, self-motivated, experienced Digital Templator to join our team.
About the Role
The Digital Templator position is an important function in the overall process of delivering the best possible service and finished product to our customers.
The Digital Templator is responsible for accurately measuring and documenting job sites, capturing critical site parameters, confirming customer selections and specifications, and identifying potential issues before fabrication and installation.
The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, can measure competently and accurately, is capable of working independently, and communicates effectively with customers, builders, contractors, and internal team members.
The Templator adds significant value to our organization by ensuring accurate measurements and detailed site parameters are properly recorded. The information collected during the templating process provides the foundation for our fabrication and installation teams to produce the best possible results and achieve exceptional customer satisfaction.
This position is ideal for an individual with experience in carpentry, cabinetry, millwork, countertop installation, construction, or another field-based fabrication or installation environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Produce accurate and detailed digital templates for assigned projects.
- Use tape measures, levels, squares, laser templating equipment, digital measuring tools, and other specialized equipment to capture precise measurements.
- Accurately document job-site dimensions, conditions, and installation requirements.
- Incorporate customer selections, specifications, and project details into the templating process.
- Document key installation considerations and potential challenges.
- Understand and document job-site parameters that may affect fabrication or installation.
- Assess potential issues, conflicts, or site conditions before they become costly problems.
- Identify conditions that may require clarification, additional planning, or communication with the internal team.
- Engage professionally with customers and clearly explain our templating and installation process.
- Review customer expectations and project details to ensure alignment before fabrication.
- Clarify customer selections and confirm project details when required.
- Communicate relevant job-site information to internal teams, including Project Management, Production, and Installation.
- Maintain accurate and timely digital records of measurements, templates, photos, notes, and job-site conditions.
- Manage multiple appointments and changing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Work independently while maintaining effective communication with the internal team.
- Represent Sloan StoneDESIGN professionally at customer homes, construction sites, and commercial job sites.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to support a smooth transition from templating through fabrication and installation.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures while working at customer and construction sites.
Qualifications
Mandatory Qualifications
- Experience using basic measuring tools, including a tape measure, square, and level.
- Demonstrated experience working in a highly detail-oriented role where accuracy is critical.
- Strong customer service, engagement, and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with homeowners, contractors, builders, and internal team members.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a variable schedule across multiple job sites.
- Comfortable using technology, including smartphones, tablets, and digital measuring equipment.
- Valid G Driver's Licence and a clean driving record.
- Reliable transportation to our facility where a company provided vehicle will be provided and the ability to travel throughout Southwestern Ontario.
Preferred / Valuable Qualifications
- Experience in carpentry, cabinetry, millwork installation, countertop installation, or another field-based fabrication or installation environment.
- Experience in a construction-related planning, coordination, or site-measuring role.
- Knowledge of construction processes and job-site practices.
- Knowledge of project management or project coordination.
- Experience reading drawings, plans, or construction documents.
- Experience working directly with customers in a residential or commercial construction environment.
- Experience with digital templating equipment or other technology-based measuring systems.
Working Conditions
This is a field-based position that involves traveling to multiple customer and construction job sites throughout Southwestern Ontario, often several locations per day.
The Digital Templator will work independently in a variety of environments, from individual residential homes and renovations to large-scale new construction projects and busy home-builder sites.
Our customers range from individual homeowners who are excited about their new kitchen or renovation to professional builders and contractors managing multiple active projects at once.
The role requires the ability to adapt to fluid timelines, changing schedules, and varying job-site conditions while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
The position primarily utilizes:
- Cell phone
- Tablet
- Digital templating equipment
- Laser measuring and templating technology
- Tape measure and other precision measuring tools
The position averages approximately 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with daily schedules varying based on customer appointments, job-site requirements, and project timelines. Typical working hours may fall between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
