We are seeking an experienced and dependable Carpenter to join our team for commercial construction projects in Winnipeg, Manitoba. We are looking for either a Red Seal Carpenter or an experienced Lead Carpenter. Apprentice positions are not available at this time.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of rough carpentry tasks while coordinating labour resources to support ongoing construction activities. This position requires an individual who is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while effectively communicating and coordinating with site supervisors, labourers, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Install blocking and backing for walls, ceilings, doors, fixtures, equipment, and other building components.
- Construct, install, maintain, and remove temporary guardrails, handrails, hoarding, barricades, and other temporary site protection.
- Perform miscellaneous rough carpentry and temporary construction work as required throughout various stages of the project.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and other construction materials using hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
- Coordinate and direct labourers and other site personnel in the completion of rough carpentry and temporary construction tasks.
- Plan, organize, and prioritize daily work activities in coordination with the site superintendent and ensure work is completed efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors, subcontractors, and other trades to coordinate work, resolve conflicts, and maintain workflow.
- Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced workers while promoting safe work practices and quality workmanship.
- Properly utilize, maintain, and store construction tools, equipment, and materials.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area at all times.
- Utilize required PPE and follow all company health and safety policies, Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health regulations, and site-specific safety requirements.
- Identify and report safety hazards, deficiencies, and potential process improvements to site management.
- Follow all safety procedures on the job site and report violations immediately to management.
- Assist with other carpentry-related tasks and general site duties as required.
- Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications
- Red Seal Carpenter certification or Experienced non-ticketed carpenters with demonstrated commercial construction experience is preferred.
- Apprentice applications will not be considered for this position.
- Minimum 3–5 years of commercial construction carpentry experience is preferred.
- Experience performing rough carpentry, including blocking, backing, temporary protection, hoarding, guardrails, and related construction activities.
- Experience coordinating labourers or small crews on commercial construction sites is considered a strong asset.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Manitoba.
- Must have reliable transportation within the City of Winnipeg.
- Valid driver's licence is considered an asset but not required for the position.
- Ability to safely operate hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
- Must be physically capable of performing demanding construction work, including lifting, carrying, climbing, kneeling, bending, and working at heights.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must comply with all company health and safety policies and applicable legislation.
Working Conditions
- Commercial construction project located in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
- Standard workweek is 40 hours, Monday through Friday.
- Standard workday consists of 8-hour shifts.
- Overtime may be required based on project requirements.
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Regular exposure to noise, dust, vibration, construction equipment, and other active job site conditions.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and repetitive use of hands and wrists.
- Work at heights may be required, valid working at height or fall protection certificate is an asset.
- Required use of PPE including hard hat, safety boots, eye protection, hearing protection, fall protection, and any additional site-specific safety equipment.
